Several 2023-2024 BMWs recalled due to brake failure.

BMW has issued a recall covering a wide range of models due to potential problems with the brakes, anti-lock braking and stability control systems.

The recall affects certain model year 2023 and 2024 X1, X5, X6, X7, and XM models and certain 530i, i5, 740i, 760i, i7, and 750e models of the same model year. A total of 11,579 vehicles are affected in the U.S.

According to a recall notice (recall campaign number 24V739000) issued by NHTSA on October 2, vehicles affected in the previous recall campaign (recall campaign number 24V104000) from February received integrated brake modules that may not provide adequate power brake assist. As a result, the antilock braking system and stability control system will not function properly, increasing the risk of a crash.

According to the recall notice, fully mechanical brakes are unaffected and are capable of slowing and stopping the vehicle, and the emergency features of the electronic brake force distribution system continue to aid in vehicle stability.

The remedial action requires the replacement of the integrated brake module by the dealer, a service that is performed by the dealer free of charge.

Owners will receive a safety risk notice in the mail beginning November 22. A second letter will be mailed as soon as the necessary parts become available, but the potential timing is not included in the recall notice.

BMW stated that it is not aware of any injuries related to this issue.
