The 993 Porsche 911 Speedster is Sonderhunsch's latest one-off model

Porsche reminds us that it's not just new models that can be customized with the Sonderhunsch Personalization Program, but classic models as well.

Against the backdrop of the 2024 Monterey Car Week in California, Porsche unveiled the 993-generation Porsche 911 Speedster, built for Italian industrial designer Luca Trazzi, who owns Porsche's Speedster Collection.

The 993-generation 911 Speedster has always eluded him, as Porsche originally built only two 993-generation 911 Speedsters for Jerry Seinfeld and 911 designer Ferdinando “Butzi” Porsche.

These cars were built by the original Sonder Wunsch program, but the new factory one-off option of the latest Sonder Wunsch program makes such a large personalization project possible again. This is the most limited form of the Sonder Wunsch program and is open to all roadworthy Porsches, regardless of year.

If the customer comes up with an idea and Porsche deems it feasible, the customer is invited to a meeting with a Porsche designer where final specifications are drawn up. The custom-made elements are then developed and finally production begins.

In the case of Trazzi's 911 Speedster, Porsche started with the 1994 911 Cabriolet. As an industrial designer, Trazzi not only drew a few of his own design sketches, but already had a clear idea of what he wanted. The yellow paint used on this car also has a personal touch. It is called Otto Yellow, named after Trazzi's beloved dog.

Like all 911 Speedsters, Trazzi's car features two seats, a more sloped windshield, a lower roofline (when the top is up), and a double-bubble rear deck. Trazzi also adds modern touches, such as the four-point daytime running lights used on the current 911, an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, and carbon fiber accents on the dashboard and center console. Carbon fiber is also used for the seat backs.

The attention to detail is such that even the power window switches have been redesigned to show the silhouette of the 911 Speedster.

Power comes from the 3.8-liter flat-six used in the 993-generation 911 Carrera RS. It produces approximately 300 hp.
