2025 BMW i5 electric sedan starting at $68,274

The 2025 BMW i5, the electric version of the 5 Series midsize luxury sedan, returns for its second year on the market essentially unchanged.

The base price is $68,275, which includes a $1,175 destination charge, which applies to the base i5 eDrive40. This rear-wheel-drive model produces 335 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque from a single motor and accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, BMW estimates.

The middle boy in the lineup is the dual-motor all-wheel drive i5 xDrive40, which starts at $71,275. With a second motor on the front axle, this version of the i5 delivers 389 hp and 435 lb-ft of torque; BMW claims a 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds.

The sportier i5 M60 remains at the top of the lineup, priced at $85,275 before options. the M60 also features a dual motor powertrain, but with 590 hp and 586 lb-ft of torque. Adaptive suspension and upgraded brakes provide more nimble handling.

All i5 models will continue to use the 84.3 kwh battery pack; EPA range ratings have not yet been released, but for reference the 2024 i5 is rated at up to 295 miles for the entry-level eDrive40, 266 miles for the xDrive40, and 253 miles for the M60. rated at 253 miles. The maximum range for each variant applies to specific wheel and tire combinations.

Gas versions of the 5 Series will also return in 2025, with the new M5 joining the lineup with a 717-hp plug-in hybrid powertrain; the M5 sedan was unveiled in June and will be introduced in the U.S. later this year with a base price of $120,675. 2025 BMW M5 Touring Wagon will be unveiled at the 2024 Monterey Car Week and is planned for sale in the US.
