2024 F1 Rankings: Red Bull Racing dominates after opening two races

Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen took the checkered flag on Saturday in the second round of the 2024 Formula One World Championship in Saudi Arabia with an almost uncontested run from pole position. Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen took the checkered flag with an almost uncontested run from pole position.

The young Dutchman, seeking his fourth consecutive title, set two records last season, winning a record 19 races in a single season and winning a record 10 consecutive races in a single season, and with the 2024 season set to feature a record 24 races, if Verstappen's dominance continues, more records are sure to be broken. If Verstappen's domination continues, there is no doubt that more records will be broken.

Sergio Perez, also of Red Bull, finished second in both of the first two races, but the gap to Verstappen was substantial. In other words, it is clear that Verstappen is still on another level compared to his teammate.

Otherwise, Ferrari has given Red Bull the most competition among the teams. In the first round, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc battled it out for the podium, with Sainz edging out his teammate in the end. Sainz missed the race in Saudi Arabia due to appendicitis, but his substitute, 18-year-old British driver Oliver Bearman, impressed in his debut race, finishing seventh overall.

McLaren was behind Ferrari. Oscar Piatri and Lando Norris both finish on the podium.

In contrast, Mercedes-Benz AMG has failed to produce results. The team, consisting of drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, has struggled with the car in high-speed corners, although it remains competitive in other areas.

With 22 races still left in the season, there is still plenty of time for the team to make changes and for the drivers to catch up to Verstappen, the current leader. The 2024 F1 drivers' championship standings are as follows:
