2024 Nissan Z Nismo with 420 hp and automatic gearbox

The new design of Nissan's 2023 Z sports car has been unveiled in its second year on the market, with a new Nismo variant focused on circuit driving.

The new 2024 Nissan Z Nismo was revealed late Monday ahead of its sales launch this fall. Pricing information will be announced closer to the start of sales.

While the regular Z already offers enough performance straight out of the box, the Nismo treatment gives the car a hard edge and adds some visual touches inside and out.

Key to the upgrade is more power from the Z's twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6; the Z Nismo has 420 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 20 hp and 34 lb-ft over the regular Z.

[18] [19] [20] [20] [20] [20] [21] The Nismo's new 3.0-liter V-6 is a more powerful, more powerful, more powerful, more powerful, more powerful car. Engine oil cooling, essential for long hours on the circuit, has also been improved.

The only transmission available is a 9-speed automatic. The 6-speed manual that was available in the regular Z is not found. According to Nissan, the 9-speed has a unique software setting that operates in the Z Nismo's exclusive Sport+ mode to provide faster and more dynamic shifting compared to the regular Z. According to Nissan, the Sport+ mode programming allows the transmission to respond quickly enough so that the driver does not need to use paddle shifters when driving on the track.

The regular Z rides and drives a bit softer than the previous generation, improving comfort on the road but sacrificing performance on the track; the Z Nismo addresses this with new sway bars, larger dampers, and stiffer springs. Body reinforcements have also been added to increase overall stiffness and rigidity, improving the car's response to increased cornering forces. Major changes include the addition of braces, stiffer suspension bushings, and stiffer steering rack mounting bushings.

The Z Nismo is also equipped with Rays 19-inch wheels and Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT600 tires. These wheels are a half-inch wider than the Z's performance-grade 19-inch wheels, which are 10.0 inches wider at the front and 10.5 inches wider at the rear. However, according to Nissan, the larger wheels are lighter. Brakes are 15.0-inch rotors at the front and 13.8-inch rotors at the rear.

The Z Nismo can be easily identified by its unique front end design with a new fascia and grille treatment. Nissan calls this the grand nose, or G-nose for short. The side skirts, rear mask, and rear wing have also been enlarged and flickered up front. Red accents indicate that this model is part of Nismo.

Inside, the Z Nismo has Recaro bucket seats with holes for harnesses. The digital meter cluster has a Nismo-specific design, and a red engine start button has been added. The steering wheel is trimmed in leather and Alcantara with a red stripe at the 12 o'clock position.
