2024 Nissan GT-R Brings Back T-Spec, Adds Heritage Paint Options

Godzilla is still alive this year.

The 2024 Nissan GT-R debuted in Japan on Thursday. The aerodynamics have been revised, the fascia has been tweaked, and the T-spec and several notable heritage colors have returned.

Nissan has not revealed pricing for the 2024 GT-R, which will go on sale in the spring. The timing of the launch means a short run for the 2023 GT-R, which was announced in October after the model popped up in 2022.

Far from being a new car, the 2024 version of the Godzilla will be available in Premium, T-spec, and NISMO trims. All three versions feature improved aerodynamics that increase downforce while reducing drag. According to Nissan, these improvements were made in pursuit of more confident and responsive handling.

The visual changes are minimal. The easiest way to spot the updated GT-R is the LED daytime running lights mounted under the grille, which appear to have adopted a mesh-like applique. Underneath the bumper, the grille inserts have been made thinner and reshaped to improve cooling performance and reduce aerodynamic drag. According to Nissan, these changes do not alter the GT-R's drag coefficient of 0.26.

The NISMO model is fitted with a new rear wing mounted on struts that Nissan calls swan-neck style. The NISMO model also gets a model-specific front bumper, rear diffuser, and canards.

The return of the T-spec represents the middle range of the GT-R lineup. Two paint schemes were revived: Millennium Jade and Midnight Purple III. The former is a nod to the rarest GT-R in history, the R34 GT-R V-Spec II Nür, while the latter is a modern version of that found on the R34 GT-R V-Spec. The latter is a modern version of that found on the R34 GT-R V-Spec. Both of these colors were last available on the 2021 GT-R T-Spec. The dark Moly Green interior color has also been restored.

The T-spec models have more mechanical enhancements than the Premium trim, including carbon ceramic brakes on the NISMO models and a NISMO-tuned stability control system. Styling improvements also include wider front fenders and gold-painted 20-inch forged wheels.

The masterfully hand-assembled 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine mounted under the hood remains unchanged. Producing 565 hp and 467 lb-ft of torque, the engine is equipped with a standard (previously optional) titanium exhaust system. the NISMO model features upgraded engine internals and increased boost to achieve a rated output of 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque. -ft.

All GT-Rs are equipped with an advanced all-wheel drive system and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission; NISMO models have an additional front limited slip differential to transfer more power to the ground.

Inside, an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto continues the GT-R lineup. Recaro bucket seats are leather with suede inserts, and the steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara.
