If the 2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 isn't enough for you, know that the German automaker has yet to put every bit of performance into this car.

Yes, a more hardcore 718 Cayman GT4 RS, or something similar, is on the way, hinted at by Porsche executives for years and currently being tested in prototype form.

The spy shots and video (starting at 3:13) show a prototype that may look like a standard GT4, but the new NACA ducts on the hood, vents instead of rear 3/4 windows, and huge race car-style rear wing are hard to miss.

It should also feature more power, given Porsche's past RS car habits, with rumors claiming nearly 450 hp; the GT4 will be powered by a newly developed 4.0-liter flat-six, producing 414 hp and 309 hp of torque.

For the GT4 RS, Porsche is expected to add internal components borrowed from the 500 hp 911 GT3 4.0-liter engine, specifically the GT3's titanium connecting rods and dry sump system. These will allow the GT4 RS's engine to deliver power at higher rpm.

The only transmission offered in the GT4 is a six-speed manual with rev-matching, and drive is transmitted to the rear wheels via a limited-slip differential; there were rumors that the GT4 would have a dual-clutch transmission, but perhaps save this for the RS version.

Along with the increased power and aero changes should come chassis upgrades: the GT4 already has adaptive dampers and the ride height is 1.18 inches lower than the standard 718 model. It also has manually adjustable camber, toe, ride height, and anti-roll bar settings.

It is not clear when the GT4 RS will debut, but it will likely be revealed in 2020. It is also not clear whether the related 718 Boxster Spyder will also receive the RS treatment, but given the hardcore nature of Porsche's RS designation, such a move seems unlikely.
