Spy shots and video of the 2021 BMW M4

BMW is working on a new generation 4 Series that will complement the new 3 Series that arrives in 2019.

It will be unveiled later this year as a 2021 model, and BMW teased its design with the Concept 4 last September. The striking show car is a faithful reproduction of the new 4 Series, and although its oversized grille was controversial, the feature is destined for production.

We now have spy shots and video of the new 4 Series in M4 guise. The distinctive rear quad exhaust system, aerodynamic side mirrors, high-performance brake package, and large intake area under the front mask all indicate that this is an M4.

BMW has also been spotted testing the new 4 Series Coupe, 4 Series Convertible, and M4 Convertible. the 4 Series Gran Coupe is noticeably missing, as it will be replaced by the new i4 battery electric sedan. the i4 is scheduled for release in 2021 The i4 is scheduled to be launched in 2021, so it is likely to appear as a 2022 model. [As for the M4, it should be powered by the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder (codenamed "S58") that debuted in the 2020 BMW X3 M and X4 M. A more powerful 503 hp M4 Competition will also be available, as well as circuit-focused CS and CSL models.

The new M3 sedan, which will be unveiled at the same time as the new M4 coupe, will also feature the same mechanism; the M3 will also feature the large grille of the 4 Series to differentiate it from the other 3 Series models.

BMW now also plans to use the M4 coupe as the basis for its next GT3 customer race car (the current model is based on the discontinued M6). A teaser sketch released last December confirmed the appearance of the big grille.

The new M4 GT3 will debut in late 2020, when the new M3 and M4 are also due. The race car will then undergo extensive testing before deliveries begin in time for the 2022 motorsports season.
