2025VW Tiguan debuts at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show
Volkswagen revealed its new Tiguan compact crossover for the U.S. market late Wednesday.
It will make its official debut this week at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show and will start selling as a 2025 model next summer. Newcomers are lighter and more powerful than the models it replaces, and its cabin has a much more upscale look and feel.
VW unveiled the new Tiguan for the rest of the world last fall, and the US version closely resembles its model. But while it only missed out on the global Tiguan plug-in hybrid option, debuting with the 2.0-liter Turbo-4, VW said the Hybrid Option
is rated for a 2.0-liter engine with 201 hp and this is the output of the 2.0-liter Turbo 4 of the outgoing Tiguan. It's up 17 horsepower. The engine is hooked to an 8-speed automatic and drives all four wheels with front wheels as standard and an all-wheel drive system available. The towing capacity is £1,500 for the FWD Tiguan and £1,800 if the AWD is added.
In addition to the power bump, the new Tiguan weighs about 170 pounds less than the outgoing model because it uses aluminum for some of the suspension parts and high-strength steel for some of the body. VW said the results of lighter weight on improved fuel economy and acceleration, although the automaker is waiting until close to market launch to publish performance figures
VW does not offer dimensions, but the wheelbase grows slightly, the rear overhang is shortened, and the third row of outgoing models is no longer offered. He said. Supporting the vehicle is an updated version of the MQB platform of the outgoing model. The updated platform is known as the MQB Evo and now supports electric powertrain.
Interior design represents a huge leap in terms of technology and quality. Depending on the model and trim, the tiguan can have in American walnut wood trim, quilted leather and heated and cooled sheets with massage function. A 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster is standard, and now 12.9 inches is standard, coupled by an infotainment screen that can be upgraded to 15.0 inches. A head-up display is also available. Some physical controls remain in the dash and center console, and one of them controls the volume as well as the mood settings known as the atmosphere, adjusts the ambient lighting and the various sounds produced in the cabin.
Production will be processed at VW's Mexico plant and shipments are expected to begin early next summer. Prices will be announced closer to market.
