US-spec2025VW Set for Tiguan 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show

Volkswagen announced a new generation of Tiguan compact crossover last fall, but it is not a version for the United States

Instead, the United States will again get a larger Tiguan, which is different from the version sold abroad, and the cover will be off on May 11. 2024 Ahead of its official debut in the same week at the Los Angeles Auto Show 2024. To build the excitement, VW on Thursday dropped a teaser photo showing the design of the new Tiguan taillights.

VW did not release any other details, but in an interview with Automotive News published on May 9, Pablo Di Si, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, hinted at the potential of a hybrid powertrain. He said he wants VW to offer hybrids in the US and pointed out how the latest Tiguan offers plug-in hybrid options in other parts of the world.

"We have the technology, we know how to do it, and we will adjust our portfolio in the coming years," he said.

VW's last hybrid in the United States was the Jetta hybrid, which was discontinued in 2016.

Di Si is not alone in his desire to launch hybrids to capture the growing demand for electric vehicles that still have gas engines. Many automakers are retreating from plans to exclusively sell electric cars. Senior Jeep executives also recently said the brand could launch a low-cost traditional hybrid to sell alongside plug-in hybrids and EVs

the redesigned US-spec Tiguan will debut as a 2025 model. The vehicle is expected to use the same updated MQB platform as Tiguan, which is sold overseas, and share much of its design with the previously discovered tests of the redesigned Chinese specification Tayron.

VW is also testing the redesigned Atlas midsize SUV, which is expected to arrive as a 2026 model.
