2026 Range Rover Sport Electric spotted with almost zero camouflage.

JLR is preparing to launch an electric version of the iconic Range Rover later this year, soon to be followed by an electric version of the related Range Rover Sport.

A prototype of the Range Rover Electric has been on display for some time, but now for the first time a prototype of the Range Rover Sport Electric has been spotted. Its debut is set for next year.

Two electric Range Rovers in the same segment as the Velar and Evoque are also planned, with a prototype of a Velar-sized electric SUV having been spotted earlier this year.

The electric SUVs are part of JLR's scaled-down electrification plan to launch six EVs by 2026, four Range Rovers and two Jaguars. Electric Discovery Sport and Defender EVs were also planned, but these models will come later than originally planned.

The first of the new electric Jaguars will be a sporty sedan, a teaser of which was unveiled a year ago. Jaguar is known to be working on a total of three EVs. The others are believed to be a large SUV and a flagship sedan.

The upcoming Range Rover Electric and this Range Rover Sport Electric will use the same MLA platform that underpins the current gas-powered SUVs; the electric version of the MLA platform will feature an 800-volt architecture and DC fast charging support will be included. It will also include support for wireless updates and apps designed to maximize range, JLR previously confirmed. Details on battery size and range were not mentioned.

There are few factors that distinguish the electric SUV from its gas and plug-in hybrid siblings. Judging from the prototype's camouflage gear, the only visual clue seems to be the enclosed grille. There may also be underbody changes to improve aerodynamic efficiency.

The smaller Velar and Evoque-sized models will use a dedicated EV platform known as EMA, while the electric Jaguar will use a dedicated Jaguar EV platform known as JEA.
