2025 Nissan Murano with premium design and turbo 4 revealed

Nissan announced Wednesday the redesign of its Murano crossover, which will be introduced in dealerships early next year as a 2025 model.

The fourth-generation model will replace the current Murano, which has been on sale since 2015, with a more upscale design both inside and out.

In addition, the current Murano's 260-horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine with CVT has been replaced by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2.0-liter engine is Nissan's VC turbo design, which allows the engine's compression ratio to be changed to suit performance and economy. The engine is tuned to produce 241 hp in the 2025 Murano and drives only the front wheels as standard, while an optional all-wheel drive system drives all four wheels. Towing capacity is 1,500 lbs.

The design of the 2025 Murano is very similar to the Nissan Alya, especially with respect to the roof profile and C-pillar design. The interior is similar, with the dash layout and even some individual elements seemingly borrowed from Nissan's electric crossover.

At the top of the dash is a single panel that combines a 12.3-inch digital screen. The infotainment system has Google built in and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard or selectable premium touches include massaging front seats, a color head-up display, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, a surround-view camera system that can display 3D graphics, an engine compartment that accurately positions the front wheels for Included is transparent hood technology that provides a virtual view through the engine compartment to precisely position the front wheels.

Nissan also offers ProPilot driving assistance, which allows hands-free driving in a single lane on the highway. The driver must constantly monitor the road and regain control when instructed to do so.

Pricing for the 2025 Murano will be announced closer to market launch.
