2025 BMW M4 CS rocks the party with 543 hp

BMW's 4-series series is getting a mid-cycle update for the 2025 model year, and as part of the update, the company has added a CS grade to its high-performance M4 coupe.

Announced late Tuesday, the new 2025 M4 CS will hit showrooms later this year with a starting price of $124,675, including a $1,175 destination charge.

The car will make its official debut on May 10 and will be available for order later this month, BMW has confirmed, and like the 2024 M3 CS and its predecessor, the M4 CS, launched last October, it will likely be a limited edition model.

The M4 CS will help bridge the gap between the regular M4 Competition grade and the bonkers M4 CSL launched in 2023. It raises performance by adding more horsepower, while at the same time reducing weight.

BMW claims a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 188 mph; BMW also claims the car can lap the Nürburgring race track in Germany in 7:21.99.

The powertrain is BMW M's familiar twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder, tuned to 543 hp, the same as the M4 CSL. This engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system; AWD is rear-biased, and this bias can be further intensified in 4WD Sport mode. There is also an option to send all drive torque to the rear wheels only if the driver wants the classic rear-wheel drive feel.

To reduce weight, BMW used lightweight carbon fiber-reinforced plastic for the hood, roof, front splitter, front intakes, side mirror caps, and rear spoiler. Carbon parts are also used throughout the cabin, including the standard bucket seats, which are also trimmed in merino leather. Lightweight parts, including a titanium muffler, reduce weight by approximately 45 pounds compared to the M4 Competition.

The chassis has also been tweaked, adding a front strut brace, upgraded brakes (carbon ceramic rotors are also available), and 19-inch front and 20-inch rear forged wheels. The wheels are fitted with performance tires as standard, but buyers can also get track-ready tires as a free option; BMW says that wheel camber, anti-roll bar, and adaptive dampers also have their own settings.

The M4 CS, like the rest of the 2025 4 Series, has a redesigned light interior at both ends. The daytime running lights also have a yellow shade instead of the more common white.

Opening the doors reveals a sill plate with "M4 CS" engraved on it. Inside the cabin, the digital screen also features graphics unique to this model, and in addition to the standard sport bucket seats mentioned above, there is a standard sport steering wheel with a flat bottom design and Alcantara trim. Carbon fiber-reinforced plastic is used throughout the cabin, including the shifter paddles.

Also standard is M Drive Professional, which includes M Drift Analyzer and M Raptimer; M Drive Professional includes M Traction Control, which allows the driver to adjust traction control from 10 different settings, and M Mode Drive, which offers Road, Sport and Track.
