Ferrari is developing new tires for old supercars

Iconic Ferrari supercars such as the F40 and Enzo will be able to perform better on the race track than they did at the factory thanks to the latest model-specific tires developed by Ferrari in partnership with Pirelli.

According to the automaker, the latest materials and tread design have resulted in tires that offer better grip and other performance characteristics than conventional tires. They have also improved safety features, such as a directional asymmetric tread pattern designed to resist aquaplaning.

Various production tires with these advantages are already available for Ferrari's classic supercars, but the tires that Ferrari is helping to develop match the size and aspect ratio of the original tires used on Ferrari cars, and the car According to the automaker, the tires match the size and aspect ratio of the original tires used on Ferrari cars, and feel the same when the driver holds the steering wheel in most driving situations.

In addition, the sidewalls of the tires have lettering similar to the style used in the past.

Custom-made tires designed for the 288 GTO and Enzo are currently being developed. Ferrari has also signed off on testing Pirelli's Collezione series of non-custom tires, which the automaker says are suitable for use on the F40 and F50.

Ferrari said its goal is to continue to offer tires in the latest compounds for all supercar models.

Previously, Pirelli had developed its own modern tires for classic Ferraris. One such tire was the Stelvio Corsa tire, which was launched in 2018 exclusively for the 250 GTO.
