2025 Mini Aceman electric crossover unveiled.

Mini on Wednesday unveiled the Aceman, the third electric crossover in its new-generation lineup.

Measuring just 160 inches long, the subcompact Aceman fits snugly between the redesigned 2025 Cooper hatchback and the 2025 Countryman crossover, essentially replacing the discontinued Clubman.

It was developed in partnership with Spotlight Automotive, the Chinese joint venture between Mini and Great Wall Motor, which also produced an electric version of the new Cooper. The gas version of the new Cooper is a warmer version of the current model.

The Aceman was heralded in 2022 by a concept car of the same name, and the design of the production version closely follows the lines of the show car. Like the Countryman, the design eschews the traditional curves of the Mini for a more edgy appearance. The chrome trim was also eliminated.

The interior design matches that of the Cooper. The dashboard features a traditional circular center stack, now with a 9.4-inch diameter full digital screen. Functions such as the shifter, start/stop switch, parking brake, drive mode selector, and volume control knob are grouped in a pod below.

Other notable technical features include an augmented reality view for the optional navigation system, voice control that responds to "Hey, Mini" prompts, and digital key connections. Maximum storage capacity is 35.0 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat.

Two versions were presented: the Aceman E and the Aceman SE. The base E is powered by a 42.5 kwh battery and a 181 hp front-mounted electric motor that accelerates from 0-62 mph in 7.9 seconds. The sportier Aceman SE is powered by a 54.2 kwh battery and 214 hp motor and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 7.1 seconds. These figures are roughly in line with the electric Cooper, with which the Aceman shares a platform.

Sales of the Aceman in the U.S. have not yet been determined. The new Countryman will arrive in U.S. showrooms in May, with a choice of gas or electric powertrains. A new Cooper will follow shortly thereafter, but it will be gas-powered only, at least initially.

The electric Cooper will be built exclusively in China, so the U.S. will likely have to wait until 2026, when production will begin in the UK, to avoid steep tariffs. The same is true for the Aceman, which will be produced exclusively in China, but is scheduled to begin production in the UK in 2026. The Countryman will be produced in Germany.

Interestingly, Mini has also hinted at a minivan-like model larger than the Countryman. That would mean a larger Mini than the market is accustomed to, but the brand has always stated that they will have the smallest footprint in their respective segments.
