2025 VW Taylon caught on video, hinting at new Tiguan for the U.S.

Volkswagen was spotted testing a prototype of a compact crossover with third-row seating that may hint at a similar SUV slated for release in the United States as a successor to the current Tiguan.

Expected to be unveiled later this year, this mystery vehicle is a redesigned version of VW's Taylon crossover, with the current model sold only in China. Unlike its predecessor, however, this new Taylon is expected to be sold globally.

In most markets, the new Taylon will replace the current Tiguan Allspace, a seven-seat stretched version of the current Tiguan sold as the standard Tiguan body style in the U.S.

VW has announced that the new Tiguan is launch this year, suggesting that the new Tiguan will be available in the United States this year. The platform is Volkswagen Group's familiar MQB design, which underpins the current Tiguan as well as the Atlas large SUV and several vehicles from VW Group's volume brands.

The new Tiguan for the U.S. could essentially be a rebadged version of the new Taylon, perhaps with styling and technology unique to this market.

A VW spokesperson confirmed that the prototype is the next-generation Taylon, but said the new Tiguan for the U.S. will have a different design.

VW is also known to be working on an electric compact crossover that may be badged the ID.Tiguan. This model is slated for around 2025, but it is not clear if it will be introduced in the U.S.
