2025 Renault 4 E-Tech caught on video

The Renault 5 is not the only car Renault plans to revive in the electric car era.

A modern Renault 4 is also in the works, and a prototype has been spotted again, this time captured on video by Car Spy Media.

The original 4, also known as the 4L, was in production for over 30 years, finally ending in 1994. Primarily a four-door hatchback, but available in a variety of body styles, the 4, like the 5, is an important vehicle in Renault's history, and it is no wonder that the automaker is reviving the naming.

The modern 4 will likely be badged "4 E-Tech," meaning electric powertrain, and will be a subcompact crossover. The design was previewed at the 2022 Paris Motor Show with the 4Ever Trophy concept, but the production version's styling is somewhat toned down from the concept's rugged lines.

The concept's overall length is 163.8 inches, and the production version should be similar in size. In other words, it will be larger than the 154-inch-long 5 E-Tech and only slightly longer than the Mini Cooper.

The 4 E-Tech will use the same Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance CMF-B EV platform as the 5 E-Tech. Renault developed its own version of this platform and named it the AmpR Small.

Renault 5 E-Tech buyers will be offered 40 kwh and 52 kwh batteries, combined with 120 hp and 150 hp electric motors.4 The E-Tech should boast similar options, but all-wheel drive with dual motors may also be possible.

The 4 E-Tech is expected to debut late this year or early next year. Sales in the French brand's expanding market should follow shortly thereafter, and prices will likely start higher than the promised 25,000 euros (about $27,250) for the 5 E-Tech, which will go on sale later this year.
