Spy shots of the 2024 Cadillac XT4: The compact crossover will get a digital dashboard and Super Cruise

A prototype of an updated version of Cadillac's XT4 has been spotted for the first time.

This compact crossover first appeared as a 2019 model, but this updated version should be introduced for the 2024 model year, with a debut likely around 2023.

The XT4 has been waiting a long time for an update, and thankfully Cadillac seems to be planning some major changes.

The prototype's makeshift headlights suggest that new designs are planned, most likely adding a new grille and front mask. Changes to the rear are likely to be more subtle at this point.

The front mask also shows signs of additional sensors that point to Cadillac making its "Super Cruise" automated driving system for highways (with monitoring) available on the updated XT4. by the time the XT4 is unveiled, parent company General Motors is expected to be preparing a more advanced Ultra Cruise system, but it is not clear if this system will be available on the XT4. Ultra Cruise is said to be capable of handling 95% of the country's roads, eliminating the need for a human to actually drive on many journeys.

The updated XT4's technology doesn't end there. Interior shots show that the current model's separate instrument cluster and infotainment hub have been replaced by a wide, curved screen. This design has already been used on the Cadillac Escalade and Ric.

It is not clear what Cadillac has planned in the powertrain department, but the brand is in the process of transitioning to a full-electric lineup and is not expected to invest in new internal combustion engine options. This means that the current 2.0-liter inline-4 turbo will likely be carried over unchanged. This engine has a maximum output of 237 hp and is driven to the front wheels or all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic.

The XT4 is currently priced from just under $40,000 and we expect this will not change significantly for the updated model.
