Sian Racing's wild restomod Volvo P1800 is coming to market.

Swedish racing team Cyan Racing, formerly known as Polestar until Volvo took over the name, will soon begin taking orders for a wild P1800 restomod that will be unveiled for the first time in 2020.

But the car won't come cheap: according to Motor1, prices start at $700,000, and Cyan Racing will begin taking orders after its display at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering on August 9.

While the price is high, the modifications are extensive. Starting with the donor P1800, the body will be rebuilt using the latest materials to improve rigidity. Not only were the panels simply replaced, but they were widened and the location of the greenhouse was also changed. These changes allowed Cyan Racing to fit the latest suspension system and 18-inch wheels (in this case, a center-lock wheelset wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires).

It also features the latest powertrain. Cyan Racing replaced the original 1.8-liter inline-4 engine with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4. This engine is the same one used in the former Volvo S60 Polestar and produces 420 hp and 336 lb-ft of torque. This may not seem like much, but the P1800 Restomod weighs less than 2,200 pounds (137 kg).

The transmission is a Hollinger five-speed manual, chosen to retain the mechanical feel of the original P1800 and to handle the high torque of modern engines. To keep the driving feel close to the original, no electronic aids such as ABS or stability control are fitted.

For buyers willing to go the extra mile, Cyan Racing will offer a long list of personalization options. Everything from color to interior trim to chassis configuration can be decided by the buyer.
