Spy shots and video of the 2023 Porsche Cayenne: hints of a major crossover update

Porsche is testing a prototype of an updated version of its mid-size crossover, the Cayenne.

The popular performance crossover looks set to take on a radical new look, at least for Porsche, judging by the changes found in the prototype.

The front end has been completely revised and features new headlights with a flatter, more angular shape, similar to the design used on the Taycan. The daytime running lights integrated with the front mask also have a new design.

The taillights are completely hidden, suggesting a new concept here. It can also be seen that the tailgate has been modified, as the recess for the license plate has been moved to the rear fascia. This design has already been used on the Cayenne Coupe, which is slated for a similar update.

While we cannot see the interior, we can imagine that the dash will be updated and integrate a full digital dash similar to that seen on the Taycan.

It is also not clear what Porsche has planned for the powertrain. Typically, Porsche raises the horsepower of most grades with updates. Currently, the lineup is topped by the Turbo S E-Hybrid, which boasts an output of 670 hp.

The Cayenne Coupe has a new Turbo GT grade with a twin-turbo V-8 engine that produces 631 hp on its own, but it is not clear if this grade will be introduced in the regular Cayenne line.

Expect an updated Cayenne to hit the market in 2022 as a 2023 model.
