Spy shots and video 2024 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR: high-performance crossover reveals itself

Land Rover is currently testing the next-generation Range Rover and the related Range Rover Sport.

Recent spy shots and videos show prototypes of the Range Rover Sport, particularly the high-performance SVR version.

The current Range Rover Sport SVR is one of our favorite performance crossovers, and Land Rover has successfully sold more than 20,000 units since its launch in 2014. Land Rover has managed to sell more than 20,000 units since its launch in 2014. In other words, it's a crossover that is not only fast, but also comfortable. The next model should further improve these qualities.

The fact that it's an SVR can be judged by the additional air intakes at the front of the body, an integrated diffuser at the rear of the body, and a pair of exhaust tips on each side. Also of note are the enlarged brake rotors and calipers that almost completely fill the wheels.

At the heart of the updated Range Rover and Range Rover Sport is the new Land Rover Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) platform. This platform is designed to accommodate both internal combustion engine and electric powertrains and is lighter than its successor, the D7 platform. The latter characteristic should help improve the driving performance of the updated SVR.

The powertrain is likely to be the familiar Jaguar Land Rover 5.0-liter supercharged V8, although a V8 from BMW could be used instead. The 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine is the same one found on the current Range Rover Sport SVR and produces 575 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. In addition to the powerful powertrain, the transmission, suspension, and traction control system have been modified.

The SVR is developed by Jaguar Land Rover's personalization department, known as SVO; vehicles with the SVR nameplate are aimed at Audi Sport, BMW M, and Mercedes-Benz AMG. Competitors for the Range Rover Sport SVR include the Audi RS Q8, BMW X6 M and the Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE63 coupe. Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe could also be rivals.

Expect the updated Range Rover Sport to go on sale in 2023 as a 2024 model; the SVR version should arrive shortly after launch, also as a 2024 model.
